Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Registered Yoga Teacher
Frank LaTerra, M.S. Ed.
With over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds as they navigate life’s challenges. My approach is rooted in compassion, evidence-based practices, and a deep understanding that healing is not one-size-fits-all. Whether someone is facing anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, I tailor my work to meet their unique needs and goals.
In addition to my clinical background, I integrate the wisdom of meditation and yoga into my practice, helping clients cultivate mindfulness, resilience, and a deeper connection to themselves. I believe that just as the body benefits from movement and stillness, the mind thrives when given space to process, heal, and grow.
At Mountain Mind Counseling, my mission is to provide a safe and supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. Life, much like climbing a mountain, can be challenging—but with the right tools and guidance, every summit is within reach.
A Note from the Founder
The inspiration behind Mountain Mind Counseling was born from both personal and professional experiences. During my years working in higher education as a counseling director, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the transformative power of therapy. I saw how a safe, supportive space could help people navigate some of life’s most difficult challenges and come out stronger, more self-aware, and more connected to themselves.
Alongside my professional work, my own journey with yoga and meditation has deeply shaped my philosophy. These practices have taught me how to calm the mind, ground in the present moment, and move through life with greater clarity and intention. They have also reminded me of the truth in Sonia Ricotti’s words: “Surrender to what is, let go of what was, have faith in what will be.” This mindset of presence and acceptance is something I strive to bring into both my life and my work with clients.
The name Mountain Mind Counseling comes from my love for the outdoors—especially hiking in the mountains. There is something profoundly steady and grounding about standing among the peaks, breathing in the crisp air, and recognizing that the stillness outside mirrors the stillness we seek within. Mountains, to me, symbolize the calm and strength we all aspire to cultivate—especially when life feels uncertain or overwhelming.
At Mountain Mind Counseling, I bring these values to each session. With compassion, curiosity, and deep listening, I walk beside you on your journey—helping you find peace, resilience, and clarity as you move toward a more fulfilling life. Whatever your path may be, you don’t have to walk it alone.
